ARREST MADE IN FRENCH MONTANA DRIVE-BY SHOOTING…
A 20-year-old man, Frank Briggs, is being charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and firearms crimes after shooting into a crowd following Montana’s performance at Philadelphia’s Theatre of Living Arts.
The shootout occurred just after midnight near Montana’s tour bus as the rapper and his entourage arrived at a Holiday Inn Express. Briggs allegedly pulled up in a car and opened fire into the small crowd that had gathered around Montana’s tour bus. Twenty-six-year-old Jowann King, of Flushing, N.Y., was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital. Another man was shot in the shoulder.
Police maintain that Montana was not a target and that the shooting likely stemmed from a dispute between rivaling fans. The Bad Boy records MC was in Philadelphia on a promo run to build anticipation for his debut album, Excuse My French, which is expected to drop in May.
French was initially disturbed by the situation, posting a picture on his Instagram that showed him being grilled by police after the incident. Authorities questioned Montana as well as over 20 members of his entourage on the scene. Montana later took to Twitter to issue a heartfelt statement about the shooting. “My bus was located in the vicinity of the incident that took place last night in Philadelphia. I had a peaceful concert and was not involved,” he wrote. “My deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the families of the victims, as well as all of those who were affected.” Giztzzz… madetv!
